Time to Celebrate
Brad and I pull out all the stops when celebrating our anniversary, but we usually keep birthdays pretty simple. But this year we stepped up our game...
So I need to brag on my husband for a minute... He pulled off the BEST birthday celebration! He planned the ultimate coffee date for me and a few of my closest friends. Picture this: Saturday morning + The Ritz Carlton + french press coffee + delicious pastries. Take a deep breath, can you smell that heavenly coffee? Mmmm...
Now here are a few reasons why this surprise was so special to me...
#1. It hit the nail on the head when it comes to my love language (which is quality time). My favorite thing in the world is to drink good coffee and have a real conversation. I don't want to talk about the weather or what has been going on in the social media world. I want to know how your heart is. I want to hear how God's been moving in your life. I want to pray right then and there for the things that are weighing on you. That is exactly what these women and I do together. We talk about real things, that really matter. ps. If you are in a relationship and you haven't read The 5 Love Languages - Buy it. Read it. Now.
#2. The surprise was SO thoughtful. Brad took every last detail into consideration. He had each friend show up in 15 minute intervals, that way I could have some one-on-one time with each of them. (He had them sign-up through a website he created!) When making the reservation, he told them how I like my coffee (strong, with a little bit of cream). He even arranged valet parking for everyone so they wouldn't need to worry about finding parking uptown!
#3. It was selfless. Brad didn't get to be a part of the surprise, he didn't get to drink the delicious coffee, he actually took care of the kids all day.
He is amazing. I seriously married up.
We agree that our birthdays will be celebrated from here on out. Because the truth is, they should be! Lets face it, life and marriage are not always easy. We should take every opportunity to celebrate and love our people well. Who do you need to celebrate today? Who do you need to show in a tangible way, that they are loved and cherished? Go and show them! We are cheering you on!
