Rest and Adventures in Newfoundland

Last month we visited Brad's parents in Newfoundland, Canada. It was full of rest, visiting with family, a few hands of 120's, boat rides, and a trip to the infamous cabin. Every time I come here, I get a glimpse of how Brad became Brad, and I adore it.

THIS is where Brad grew up! River in the front, ski hill in the back. Seriously!?
It was tough reading and drinking coffee from this porch, but someone had to do it.
These kids.  I can't even...

Ken and Cheryl will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary next year!!
Brad and I tell "cabin stories" to anyone that will listen.  It's one of our favorite places on earth.  Here's why... there is no electricity or running water.  The closest man-made structure is 5 miles away.  The only way to get to it is by snow mobile in the winter, by boat or hiking in the summer.  Those may not sound like pros to some, but they are to us.  Simplicity forces us to stop being busy and simply be still.  We don't bring any electronic devices with us, so our options of daily activities include: sleeping, reading, playing cards, sleeping, eating, fishing, sleeping... Repeat the next day.  It is marvelous.  A few other things for you to dream about... on a clear night you can literally see the Milky Way.  It is deafening quiet, and with two one years at home, this is a magical thing.

This trip, Brad and I went by ourselves for two nights.  Ken lead the way to make sure we could find the new "Twins Trail" he made.  (More on that later)
Hiking to the cabin.

The infamous cabin. It's on a peninsula, so there are water views on both sides.

Front view of the cabin.

Heaven on earth.

View from inside the cabin.

sAnd one more adorable picture to finish the post...  I mean seriously!?...
